Deepika Akolekar and her gynaecological Consultant colleague Philippa Moth delivered information about Breast Examination, Genetics, Menopause and HRT. This was the 2nd of the series of events organised in association with the West Malling Patient Participation Group. This free event was held at GenesisCare Centre in Kings Hill. The highly sought after event was fully booked and generated a very lively interaction between the Consultants and the audience.
The talks were followed by workshop with smaller groups to practice breast examination on models and opportunity to see the mammogram machine. We also spent time taking questions regarding HRT and managing menopausal symptoms. Dr Pippa Mills (Consultant Radiologist) answered several questions pertaining to the national breast screening programme and dispelling myths regarding mammograms .
